On my old Graveshifter website I did a "Book of the Month" feature which was totally sporadic, not at all monthly, but fun. I focused on stuff I found at thrift stores with illustrations I liked...usually stuff that was unintentionally creepy. As I dig through some of the surviving junk I have saved (I threw a ton of stuff away recently...paintings, books, etc.), I'll post some covers like these. No blabby commentaries, just scans of stuff I could not bear to trash...yet.

I have a hardcover of Purple Violet Squish. It has a different cover but is similarly psychedelic.
I've got The Cross and the Switchblade somewhere too...it has sort a Westside Story-Saul Bass cover...
I love books about all the temptations of the '60s and '70s from the perspective of the Jesus Movement. I never knew what yippies were until Purple Violet Squish. I found a bunch more books of that ilk at X-Ray Cafe - The New Pagans, The New Cults.
I collected a lot of those too. I liked Bob Larson's Book of Cults...a Christian paperback of "dangerous" cults, one or two page summaries of all kinds of stuff like Rev. Ike and Bubba Free John and COG. I also collected born again jailbird confessional stuff, flamboyant criminals bragging about their exploits with some redemption tacked on the end.
